People Magazine has released a sneak peek at their upcoming "World's Most Beautiful" and darlings, we're puzzled. No Kenyan women with neck rings? No indigenous Amazon people with needles through their nose? How very odd that all of the most beautiful people in the world adhere strictly to Western (American and European) concepts of beauty. Oh well, non-Western people. Apparently you're slacking in the beauty department. Better step it up for next year.
Also, isn't it curious how the most beautiful people in the world are all celebrities who have had a pretty good year career-wise? Julianna Margulies, for instance. Beautiful when she was on a hit show ten years ago; beautiful again now that she has another hit show, but apparently when her career wasn't doing so well she stopped being beautiful for a while. Or Kevin McKidd. Critically well received but canceled HBO show? Not beautiful. Very short-lived network TV show? Not beautiful. Joins the cast of a hit network TV show? Suddenly beautiful. Very puzzling, but who are we to question this prestigious award, right?
Anyway, here are some of the people who made the list. Julia Roberts topped the list, making her the Most Beautiful Person in the World. We'll let y'all dissect that one. We've been bitchy enough for one post.
